Review for Brookview At Elkins Park Apartments

Brookview used to be a really great place to live - I should know, I've lived here for almost ten years. Unfortunately, things have changed drastically over the last several months.

New management took over this past spring - Steven D. Bell Management. Since then, things have really gone down hill.

Maintenance staff has been reduced drastically. As a result, requests go for weeks without a response. The office staff seems to be undertrained and overwhelmed with their duties. Residents are treated rudely when they make requests.

The cleanliness of the property has become a real issue this summer. It seems that there are no longer any weekend maintenance staff, so the trash compactor does not get compacted or emptied from Friday until Monday morning. As a result, by Sunday, the entire trash area overflows with trash bags that spill out into the street. The smell is really bad when it's warm and now rodents are starting to arrive.

A streetlight was hit by a car back in May and hangs over one of the entrance roads. It's now August and the light is still not repaired. In addition, other outside street lights have burned out, causing many areas of the property to be dark and increasingly dangerous. Tennants' cars have been vandalized and several people have reported being accosted by by teenagers when they get out of their cars at night.

Brookview used to be a really nice community. Unfortunately it's not what it used to be. I don't like writing reviews like a cranky, bitter old man, but I think this is the only way to get their attention. Maybe if they lose business, things will change.

There are a lot of other apartment complexes in the Elkins Park area and I'm sure that at least some of them - if not all of them - have better management teams. Do some investigating before you chose an apartment, but save yourself a lot of frustration and aggravation by NOT moving into Brookview!
