Cedar Oaks Gets Grade Of A - (4 And A Half Stars)

I have lived here for about 10 months now. There are about 6 or 7 separate buildings that make the complex and from what I can tell, the tenants are a majority of OSU students, and young couples with children.

I have had both party crazed college students and young couples with noisy dogs live on both sides of me, but there must be cement walls separating the units, because you can only hear the noise while passing their doors. Not from inside your unit.

The manager is a VERY NICE man, Mr. Matt, who always has a smile on his face, and I judge it to be extremely genuine. -- I also have never had any problems with him.

When I moved in, brand new carpet was put in both the downstairs living room and the master bedroom. A fresh coat of paint was on all the walls, and some blinds were brand new (the others were in good condition... I assume the new ones were replacing damaged blinds).

The whole complex is sprayed for bugs/insects about once every 2-3 months, and I have never had too much of a problem with roaches that wasn't taken care of with a spray and me doing my part to not leave food out.

So far, in 10 months, I have only had 2 maintenance problems: My thermostat informed me that a new air filter was needed, and the garbage disposer stopped working. Both problems were resolved within 30 minutes after calling Mr. Matt.

The apartments are reasonable priced and pets are allowed. I did have to place a deposit down for my cat, but unlike some apartments, this deposit is refundable, pending no cat damage of course.

Why the A MINUS?: The only marks I can say it has against it is merely due to my status as an OSU student. I have a car, and it is no more than 10-15 minutes to the university, but when my car did break down once, the walk to the bus stop was about 500 feet away. This is no problem when it is warm, but in our chilly Oklahoma winters, it was quite the run each morning to the bus stop.

The bus also only ran once an hour and didn't run at all on the weekends. This was inconvenient, but you also have to keep in mind, the bus schedules, and their stops are managed BY THE UNIVERSITY, and not Cedar Oaks. So unfortunately it was an issue outside of managements control that kept me from giving it a 100% perfect score.

In short: Cedar Oaks is a great place to live and I'd reccommend it to any of my friends.

I will also leave another review upon my move out to let people know how the refund of my deposit went. Judging from the demeanor of Mr. Matt, and the fact that my apartment is in great condtition with a "declawed" cat, I am sure it will go well.

Hope this helps anyone who is vacilating between apartments in the Stillwater Area.

- B

I neglected to fill out the "STARS" part correctly and the site gave me errors when trying to correct it. My INTENDED STARS WERE: Safety: ***** (5) Parking: ***** (5) [you have your own assigned spot] Appearance: ***** (5) Office Staff: ***** (5) [I would give more if I could] Maintenance: ***** (5) [Problems fixed within 30 minutes of reporting them) Condition: ***** (5) Noise: ***** (4) [Depends on your neighbors.... The majority are quiet) OVERALL: 4.5 stars
