Can I get out of a lease because of poorly insulated window that leaks when it rains?
My apartment window leaks when it rains. The last time it rained I was forced to move my plants off the window seal and place some towels on it. I called to put in for a repair that night but then called in the next business day to ensure that the repair need was delivered to apartment staff. It was. I was told that the reason water entered my apartment was due to the way the wind blew the rain. I responded by explaining to them that I noticed gaps between the window and the wall in which the water was dripping. The apartment stated that they would put in the order for repair but it has yet to be repaired. This occurred in early April. Also, in the past I have received electric bills in the tune of $200 and $300. I now believe it to be a result of poor insulation. Is this grounds for breaking my lease which will be up for renewal in November 2009?
